Skyview Middle School Families,

I would like to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. I am extremely excited to be part of the Skyview family. Middle school students are engaging, joyful, and fun. It is a special time in their lives and one I am thankful to be part of. The faculty at Skyview is eagerly awaiting student arrival in September and is looking forward to a great year ahead. Our charge will be to focus on school culture through transitional supports, relationships, and engagement. Furthermore, we will continue to center on high academic rigor and supporting a community that embraces high involvement. There have been changes in leadership at Skyview Middle School, but the rigor we demand, the high expectations we have, the core values we hold, the excellent faculty we have in place, and the amazing community you are, remains the same.

I am a product of Washington state public schools. My twin sister and I grew up in Shoreline. Following high school, I received my undergraduate degree and Master’s in Educational Leadership from Western Washington University. I am entering my 23rdyear in public education this fall. After teaching for seven years in the Edmonds School District, my wife Sara and I moved to South Carolina where she has family. Sara was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Auburn University in Alabama (War Eagle!). She is also a public educator and teaches special education at Timbercrest Middle School. We love college football, running, and all things Disney (movies, parks on both coasts, podcasts, etc…). Three years ago, we decided to return to Washington state and settled in Northshore, which has truly become our family’s home.

Sara and I have two boys who attend Northshore schools. This fall, Grayson will be entering ninth grade and Graham will start sixth grade. Our family eagerly anticipates this new school year. I want my children to have teachers who are caring, challenge them academically, and expect them to be the best persons they can be. I want their teachers to get to know them and keep them safe throughout their learning. These are things I hope not only for my children, but also for yours as they attend Skyview Middle School.

I am looking forward to working with each and every one of our students. Furthermore, I am excited to meet, partner, and collaborate with each of you. Together we are Skyview Middle School, Home of the Eagles!

Sincerely,

Matt Wallace
Principal
